What To Expect

What to Expect

Everyone has questions before visiting a new place. Here are some answers we hope will make it easier for you to visit.

What Will My Visit be Like?

You can expect to be greeted warmly when you arrive. We'll help you get oriented—where to find something to drink, restrooms, and the nursery, if you have young kids. We are an inter-generational church. You'll find single people, young families, teenagers, empty-nesters, and retired people. Before the service, you'll find other people chatting in the common areas. Someone will likely say hello, introduce themselves, and welcome you.

Whenever you're ready, you can find a seat in the sanctuary. There are chairs in rows and some tables with chairs. Find a place that's comfortable for you. If you don't have a worship service bulletin, an usher will give you one; it will help you follow the service. During each worship service we sing songs, pray, and listen to a message from a pastor. When the worship service concludes, you can spend time chatting with others or be on your way. Periodically, we'll also have a meal after the service. You're always welcome to join us for that. Our hope is that you'll leave refreshed, with some new things to think about. That you'll know a bit more about Jesus and the God we worship. That something might challenge your thinking or help you better and more peacefully navigate life in the coming week.

When Should I Arrive for the Service?

We recommend you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before service starts so you have time to get something to drink (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water) before finding a seat.

If you will be visiting for the first time, have young children, and would like to use our nursery during the service, you'll need a few extra minutes to register your children and help us get to know them. Nursery opens approximately 15 minutes prior to the worship service.

How Long is the Worship Service?

Our worship services typically last about 60-75 minutes.

What is your Style of Worship Music?

With have a blended style of music—a mixture of traditional hymns and Psalms and modern songs. We also use varied instruments in our services as part of the singing and music. Depending on the piece, you'll hear piano, pipe organ, guitars, percussion, strings, brass, woodwinds or a mixture of these. We celebrate and sing to praise and pray to the loving God we worship—the God that desires to meet each one of us right where we are.

What do You Have for my Children during the Service?

Nursery is provided for young children during the worship service. A volunteer at the welcome center at the main entrance will help direct you to the nursery. When you come to the nursery, another volunteer will help you sign in you child and give you a pager in case your child needs you during the service.

During the service, there is often a children's message for children age 3 through second grade. After this message, these children may go to Children's Worship for the remainder of the worship service. There, there will hear a bible story and have an opportunity to do arts and crafts that relate to the bible story. When the primary worship service is over, you can get your children, discuss what they learned and did, and return to fellowship with other church members and guests.

What Should I Wear?

When you come to Ada CRC, we don't want you to worry about being dressed “the right way.” That's not what church is about. Just dress comfortably. When you come to worship at Ada CRC, you'll find people in casual clothes, suits and dresses, and shorts. It doesn't matter whether your wearing boots, heels, sandals, or sneakers. We are more concerned about how you are doing than what you are wearing. We hope that you can feel welcome to simply come as you are.

Do I have to Give Money when I Visit?

No. You're never obligated to give. We generally take an offering during the service. If you're visiting for the first time, feel free to pass the basket on to the next person, unless you'd like to give something. As people get involved in Ada CRC, we hope they will feel led to regularly give generously to help support the various ministries of the church. If you like to know more about the various ways you can help support Ada CRC, please visit the Giving page on this site.

Where do I Park?

There's plenty of parking right outside and behind the main building. We share a parking lot with Ada Vista School, so there are plenty of spaces.
